James W. Claflin Jr., a Partner with Peel Brimley, concentrates his practice in the areas of (i) contracts, including drafting and review, (ii) corporate and general business law, including business entity formation and counseling, and (iii) contractor licensing issues.

Mr. Claflin focuses on the firm’s construction industry-related clients, including subcontractors, general contractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, owners, and developers; is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Utah; has been a member of the faculties at the BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School, University of North Dakota Law School and Concord University Law School, where his subjects included appellate advocacy, trial advocacy, legal research and writing, torts law, criminal law, and contracts law.

Mr. Claflin earned his B.A., cum laude, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University. During law school, Mr. Claflin was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an Articles Editor for the BYU Law Review.

Mr. Claflin is married with seven children. He enjoys theatre, cinema, literature, military history, the BYU Cougars, the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers, and motorcycles.
